What is Serve the City?

SERVE THE CITY mobilizes volunteers to help create a culture of love and hope. We do this by organizing action days and volunteer projects to help social non-profits, such as soup kitchens, centra for homeless people, schools, care centra for elderly people and other organizations. We believe everyone can serve and if everyone would give more than take, this world would be a better place.

The projects we serve are often very simple: painting, cleaning, clearing, helping with homework, serving food, and listening to people. We are networkers: we are the line between the good intentions of people who want to serve an meaningfull possibilities to do that.

Our inspiration comes from the life and message of Jesus Christ. His central message was to serve people. There’s no greater love than he who gave his life for others. It is difficult to find a better role model and example than Jesus.

Our core values:

1. Belief in a better world
2. Love is our motivation
3. Be a voice of hope
4. Open to everyone

SERVE THE CITY started in Brussels in 2005 and at the moment we exist in 60 cities all over the world. Here in Leuven we started in the summer of 2008 and in the fall of 2009 we became a local non-profit.
