Power of Love

Love is the universal language understood by all.  With an aim to spread this message, Serve The City team organized – The Street Kindness project on Valentine’s Day. The project saw enthusiastic participation from volunteers from various walks of life. From excited students to dedicated expats everyone was enthused to paint the streets of Leuven in the colour of love.

Our team of volunteers got together and created over hundred hand-made cards with positive messages aimed to brighten the day of the recipient. With our bag full of cards and hearts full of love, the team hit the Leuven streets giving out free hugs and cards to the people passing by.  From a bunch of energetic teenage girls, to a sprightly toddler accompanying his mother on a shopping trip and an elderly couple out for lunch to celebrate their years of togetherness, the  lovingly made cards and their messages brought a bright smiles on everyone’s faces.

As the saying goes- “Happiness is the only thing that multiplies when you share it”.  Our team of volunteers were not untouched by the love of the people of Leuven. Our every hug and card was returned with dazzling smiles and warm bear hugs leaving us with fuzzy feelings.

Jimi Hendrix once said that “When power of love will overcome the love of power, the world will know peace.” This Valentine’s Day truly opened up our eyes to the power of love!
