What I learned from volunteering

“After moving to Leuven in 2016 from the United States, I knew I wanted to join an organization where I would be able to help people in need, make new friends, and learn about the local community. Serve the City Leuven was the perfect fit, I have been able to do that and much more!

Serve the City focuses on all different types of projects and focuses on helping the less fortunate and the environment. One project I really enjoyed was volunteering at the Sint-Maartensdal community party. Sint-Maartensdal is social housing located in Leuven. During this event I was able to contribute my time and effort while meeting many local people. I was also able to practice my Dutch which is another benefit of volunteering with Serve the City.

Through volunteering, I have learned new skills, became more open minded, and now have a brighter outlook on life. I am so grateful to be able to be a part of such a great organization, thank you Serve The City!”
